The Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic (MHUCC) is a walk-in clinic that provides mental health support for children, teens, adults, and older adults who need help right now.  

Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic offers care in a calm, supportive setting. You do not need an appointment. 

This clinic is not a hospital and not an emergency room. Many people come here instead of going to the ER. 

If you or a loved one is experiencing mental health distress or a substance-use concern and are thinking about going to the emergency room, the Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic (MHUCC) may be a more comfortable place to start.

What Is Mental Health Urgent Care? 

Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic (MHUCC)  often helps people avoid hospitalization or involvement with law enforcement. 

The Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic (MHUCC)  is a place to go when: 

  • You feel overwhelmed or in crisis 
  • You need mental health support right away 
  • You don’t know where else to turn 

The goal of Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic (MHUCC)  is to help people: 

  • Feel safe 
  • Feel calm  
  • Talk with someone who understands 
  • Get connected to the right services 

Who Can Use This Service? 

Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic (MHUCC)  serves: 

  • All ages 
  • People experiencing emotional distress or crisis 
  • People with mental health and/or substance use concerns 
  • People who are not currently receiving services from the Department of Health Services
  • People who need help but are not in immediate danger 

Family members, caregivers, and loved ones are welcome to come for support or guidance. 

 

For Children, Teens, and Families 

The Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic (MHUCC)  serves children and youth, as well as adults. 

Staff use age-appropriate approaches to support children, teens, and families. When needed, families may be connected to youth-specific services for ongoing care. 

What to Expect When You Arrive 

When you come to the Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic (MHUCC), you will be welcomed by a team that includes: 

  • Peer support specialists with lived experience 
  • Counselors and clinical staff 
  • Medical staff when needed 

Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic focuses on linking people to the right care, not keeping them long-term. 
 

Language Access 

The Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic (MHUCC) provides language services for people who speak languages other than English. Please let staff know your language preference. 

Eligibility 

You can receive services at the Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic (MHUCC) if you: 

  • Are a Sacramento County resident 
  • Need mental health support 

You do not need: 

  • A referral 
  • An appointment 
  • Insurance 

People with private insurance can still receive services.
