Sacramento County has released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for an Investment and Revitalization Strategy that will deliver an actionable plan to guide future investment in commercial corridors throughout the unincorporated County.

"Our commercial corridors are where people shop, eat, work and do business every day," said Crystal Bethke, Director of Sacramento County's Office of Economic Development. "We want to understand what each area needs to attract more investment and create places that better serve the people and businesses who rely on them."
The effort is led by County's Office of Economic Development in partnership with the Department of Community Development. It will create a practical roadmap to identify redevelopment opportunities, prioritize public and private investment, and recommend specific actions that support stronger neighborhood business districts, housing opportunities where appropriate and long-term economic growth.
“Revitalizing our commercial corridors is about creating communities that are resilient, connected and built for the future,” said Troy Givans, Sacramento County’s Community Development Director. “This effort will help us shape places that support housing, local businesses and public investment while ensuring redevelopment reflects the unique needs and identity of each corridor.”
The selected consultant will evaluate 15 commercial corridors, assess market conditions and redevelopment potential, identify priority opportunity sites and their highest and best uses, recommend policy and infrastructure improvements and develop implementation plans for pilot corridors. The strategy will build on previous County planning efforts and focus on market-driven actions that are realistic and reflect the opportunities and needs of each corridor.
Consultant proposals are due by Sept. 4. The County anticipates beginning the project later this year, following evaluation and approval by the Board of Supervisors.
